We’ve started our 2011 Christmas holidays a wee bit early this year, and starting off in an unseasonably warm Northern Hemisphere. The folks here in Finland are saying the amount of snow cover is not typical- none in Helsinki and about 10cm in Lahti, but us Aussies, we just don’t notice the slushy, dirty snow on the roads as we are too busy taking in the snowy landscape. The ghostly bare trunks of birch trees and grey skies are a perfect counterpoint to the crunchy, white snow under our feet, as we gaze in awe at the sights around us.
